Danish X Greenland Expedition 1999

In 1999, Gregers Gjersøe, Kalle Kronholm, and Kristian Joos set off on a ski adventure across Greenland. Inspired by Fritjof Nansen's book, Skiing Across Greenland,  the expedition started in Sdr. Strømfjord along the western edge of Greenland and finished at the small village of Isotorq on the east coast of the island.

Over the course of 45 days, the trio made their way across the vast Greenland Ice Sheet, pulling their 120 kilogram (264.5 lb) sledges for 650 km (403 miles) to reach their destination. Completely unsupported, Gregers, Kalle, and Kristian made the journey without help from dogs, airplane drops, or outside assistance.

Below, you'll find a selection of photos from the journey as well as a short video that was made about the expedition.
